Incubus / William Shatner Demons in the form of lovely young women lead dishonorable men to their deaths. One particularly beautiful demon meets and falls in love with an honorable young soldier (William Shatner). Her older sister (also a demon) is outraged and conjures (in a stirring scene) their fierce brother, who brutalizes Shatner's sister. A haunting, breathtakingly photographed tale of good and evil, love and revenge. INCUBUS also has the odd distinction of being filmed entirely in Esperanto the language published in 1887 to facilitate easy communication between people of different cultures. (English subtitles) Director Leslie Stevens was a frequent contributor to the original OUTER LIMITS television series. Directed by: Leslie Stevens Produced by: Anthony M. Taylor Starring: William Shatner, Allyson Ames, Robert Fortier, Eloise Hart, Ann Atmar, Milos Milos. This film was originally released in 1965. Black and white. 76 minutes.
My opinion about the film:
I don't enjoy this kind of films. I bought it only because it is spoken in Esperanto. There is some dialog, but there are also long scenes without any words being spoken. The actors don't know Esperanto. The main actors speak almost well, the rest, don't. Many words are pronounced wrong. In the beginning there are too many words stressed on the last syllable. In Esperanto all words are stressed on the syllable before last. I recommend it as a curiosity about Esperanto. I don't recommend it as a tool to learn Esperanto pronunciation. All the dialog is translated to English on subtitles very easy to read, a little bit too near the center of the screen. G. G.
